In July 2008, Michael Arrington created a hardware prototype called the Crunchpad aiming to build an affordable web tablet to compete with low-end laptops and netbooks. Due date is November 2009 with an estimated price of $400. The tablet includes a 1.6GH Intel Atom, 1GB RAM, USB port, built-in WiFi and 3G connectivity, and is approximately 2.5 pounds.
