Everyone remember the Razor and with the Droid launch Motorola is eager to find out if this phone can duplicate the Razors success.

Verizon stores have truly stepped up their marketing, switching most window displays from Blackberry to Droid promotions. This bodes well for Motorola not so great for Research in motion. Blackberry does have a developer conference November 9-12 but nothing material is expected.

A few Android highlights:

-QWERTY keypad
-Bigger screen than the iPhone, 3.7′ display
-Desktop cradle to display time, weather and anything else you set up
-Changeable batteries
-Runs more than one application at a time

No longer will one need a Twitter account to view tweets, Bing is bringing tweets to the masses. In what may turn out to be a very lucrative deal for Twitter, Microsoft has reached a deal to include real-time feeds in Bing’s results. While searching for a query on Bing tweets will simultaneously appear next to the results.

This is one of the first major advantages Microsoft will have over Google. This advances Bing into a real time search engine. Certainly in due time Google may have access to Twitter as this was not an exclusive deal with Microsoft, but for the time being it shows Microsoft is willing to step up to the challenge. This also bodes well for Yahoo! by mid next year Bing will be the search engine on all Yahoo! sites.

Akin to what Apple does with third party applications, Yahoo is set to mimic its business model and potentially attract billions of dollars in revenues.

If you own a smart phone then you are well aware of how appealing these applications are. Currently Yahoo provides approximately 400 already created third party apps for its 330 million unique visitors per month. Yahoo! has announced that developers will be able to build applications for its home page and sell those apps similarly to how the applications store for Apple functions.

Developers will be able to build apps and drive traffic to any site increasing awareness while capturing new users. In addition the third party app will allow ad displays as an additional monetization opportunity.

The homepage apps can be built with Yahoo! Application Platform (YAP), which allows you to build and distribute an app to any Yahoo user.

Xmfan.com reported that there is a rumor of a new Ipod dock that the company may debut next week. The event is scheduled for next Wensesday, the hardware will turn any Ipod touch or Iphone into a satellite radio receiver.

From xmfan “The XM SkyDock is a docking station for your iPod Touch or iPhone that turns it into a SATELLITE XM Radio receiver! Included is an XM antenna, power cord (also featuring the new transmitter technology), and docking station that turns your iPod/iPhone into an actual XM Satellite Radio receiver using the SiriusXM app. This may be the biggest breakthrough in satellite radio technology to date, and could possibly bring in millions of additional subscribers. This SKYDock kit is expected to sell for less than $100. ”

Quick wrap-up of the product’s features:

- You can add any number of users to a wave, just like inviting friends to your Gchat list.

- You can post richly-formatted text, photos, links and videos, just like on your Facebook feed.

- You can simply drag and drop files (photos, docs, etc.) to add them to your Wave

- You can stream in your feeds, including Twitter and FriendFeed (a company that’s probably not having the best day).

- You can reply to or comment on anything another member has posted to the Wave.

- You can type at the same time as anyone else on your Wave, and your messages will show up in real time almost character by character (though you can toggle it to show messages only after you press done, like an IM).

- You can rewind and play back your Wave conversation to see how it evolved at any point.

- Wave is open source, allowing third-party developers to play with and extend the product (something Google is encouraging before its public launch).

- You can export an edited wave as a new wave and start over if it gets too confusing.

- You can make some parts of a conversation viewable by a select group, or entirely private.

- You can embed your Waves in other places — your blog, your web site, etc.

- The open API allows developers to easily build new features into Wave — one example is Polly, a tool that lets you add polls to a wave. This also functions as an RSVP feature, negating the need for sites like eVite.

- Another extension, Bloggy, lets you start a Wave with a blog post, that readers can then respond to in a variety of ways.

- You can play interactive games in the sidebar of your Wave, like chess (an incarnation of Scrabble is sure to follow if it hasn’t already).

- Wave has workable versions for Android and the iPhone.

In what could reshape the landscape of social web sites, MTV has agreed to split ad revenues with Facebook and Twitter. “You’re Watching With Alexa Chung” filmed on January 21 will show live Facebook updates and tweets from Twitter. Viewers will be able to comment and see their comments on MTV instantaneously. This is the first time a social networking site will share ad revenues generated from the broadcast of the show with a major content provider instead of just receiving exposure for the site. This venture will certainly lead to other social web sites to demand the same content sharing deal from large corporations looking to take advantage of the new up and coming social networking sites. Left out of this equation is Myspace. It will be interesting to see how NewsCorps Rupert Murdoch markets the second largest social web site with its 130 million members worldwide.
