The one thing every person has full control over is your mental attitude. We choose to be happy or we choose to be unhappy and one of the greatest influences is our friends. There are consequences for everyone that we become friends with. Surround yourself with positive people. We absorb what people around us are talking about. If people are discussing negative aspects we pick up negative thoughts, if people discuss positive aspects we focus on positive aspects and feel better. If a negative person is encountered the best strategy is to say the least amount and move on. Do not stick around negative people for more than you have to. It is best to weed through friends and decide who affects your life positively and negatively. These people have the greatest influence over your mind. And if you have thought about changing them, think again its a lot harder than you think and this could prolong a negative friendship which will not improve your mind frame. If you insist give it a time frame if someone isn’t coming around its time to go.

As far as your family is concerned, same principle applies. Limit your communication! There are enough people out there to knock you down, your family members should not be one of them. If you see yourself getting involved in a negative discussion the best course of action is to change the subject, not too abruptly but make sure the conversation takes a different path.

The same tactics can be applied to your work environment, limit your contact with these folks! I understand that sometimes we need to interact with these types of people but do not stay around to long. Limit your words and move on and do this in the nicest way possible, we are not trying to make enemies or be seen as rude. Just keep in mind the advancement of your career will be hindered by your involvement with negative people.

The faster you start associating yourself with positive people the quicker you will notice changes and the path to success will become much easier. Keep in mind success brings on more success, failure attracts more failure and will limit your chance to succeed.

You can not dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself one – James A. Froude

So you have been working out but haven’t seen enough results? Perhaps what you need is a good metabolic boost. And you can do that by making a few simple changes in what and how you eat. Add that you to your workout routine and you’ll be slimming down in no time.

First, increase your protein. One study found that subjects who increased the percentage of protein-based calories in their diets burned 71 more calories a day than those on low-protein diets. Why is that? Protein takes more energy to metabolize than other food sources. So increase your metabolism with protein-packed snacks, like almonds, cheese, and focus your lunch and dinner around legumes, lean meats, tuna, or salmon.

Then, eat more often to keep your metabolism revved. Enjoy mini -meals throughout the day like a cup of yogurt with fresh fruit or almonds at 10:30 a.m., and a hard-boiled egg or hummus with vegetables around 3 p.m. But eat smaller portions and never super size.

Drink your green tea. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. Those catechins, the powerful antioxidants found in green tea, are known to increase metabolism. So skip the Lipton and steep 1 teaspoon of loose green-tea leaves in hot water for 4 minutes and enjoy the slim waistline you’ll get from it

Get spicy. Numerous studies have shown that adding spices like chili powder and cayenne to your foods can increase your metabolism.

Use small bowls and spoons and drink tall. Not only will you serve yourself less food, you’ll eat less. Researchers have found that a set of graduate student subjects ate 59% more Chex Mix from large bowls than those who served themselves from smaller bowls. Also, our brains estimate height differently than width so we tend to pour more into a short, squat glass than a tall, narrow one, despite their same volume capacity.

“Failure is only the opportunity to more intelligently begin again” Henry Ford

Remember when you learned how to ride a bike? Chances are there were training wheels on the bike at first and eventually those were removed. As the skill of balancing was attained a few bumps and bruises were picked up along the way. A few falls and soon enough you were on your own riding around the neighborhood. Do you remember how it was you got around to your new found freedom? It was the commitment to persevere regardless of the consequences. There was a goal in mind and you would stop at nothing to achieve it. The key to success…persistence and repetition.

The Secret of Success is Not a Secret: Stories of Famous People Who Persevered

Keep in mind anything attempted for the first time will be difficult, the repetitiveness is what will make the challenge easier. For this reason one must maintain a level of eagerness towards each challenge. Commitment to your task is key, others views of you should be the last thing on your mind. Obviously its not a great feeling to fail but it is just a stepping stone to your success. One must ensure that others do not derail you and instill panic in your path to succeed.

Persistence is never giving up when a challenge is encountered no matter what happens. Hardships and discouragement will be encountered. More importantly make sure your persistence is applied the right way. A plan is necessary to ensure you stay on course. Just being persistent does not mean you will succeed, you must know where you are going. Regularly evaluate each step taken as you strive for your goal. As soon as you notice something pushing you off your path go back and change it. The steps taken to achieve your goal might have to me changed so prepare yourself to be flexible.

A romantic dinner or a relaxing bubble bath with a hint of cancer in the air? The American Chemical Society has just broken my love affair with candles by announcing that paraffin candles build up carcinogens in a home. Paraffin based candles are your most common and can be found in any store throughout the U.S. Paraffin wax is a petroleum by-product which is why carcinogens are released when they are burned. The health risks increase when the candles are lit in an unventilated room such as that candlelit bath or romantically lit dining room. Last time I checked most people don’t light candles by a window since a gust of wind will either set your curtains on fire or turn your candles off, therefore any room with lit candles is a bad idea. Those with health problems such as asthma should be extra cautious since volatile compounds are released which may trigger reactions. If you rarely light candles then the health risks are minimal however if your affinity for candles is as profound as mine you’re in trouble! Candle makers aren’t required to list their ingredients or the components of those ingredients leaving the consumer without answers. Candles today aren’t the candles of our ancestors which by today’s terms were “organic”. Your cheaper candles have lead wicks and are made from toxic waxes, even your pricier Yankee Candles have refined paraffin in them. If you’re an avid candle user your safest choice is to begin using beeswax or soy candles. They are comparable in price to your high end candle retailers yet they are all natural and safe.

Water has been called the “miracle cure” for weight loss success. Water is not only critically important to shedding unwanted weight and keeping it off, but it is also vital to the body to function effectively. If you want to lose weight, increasing the amount of water that you drink will give you that jump start your body needs. Here’s how drinking water will help you shed ten pounds this month:

Flush out the system

People today eat a lot of processed foods and other junk that the body simply does not need, therefore the body builds up a lot of toxins in the bloodstream and kidneys over time. When these toxins build up, the body has trouble processing waste and the body starts to slow down, leaving you feeling sluggish and the weight starts to pack on. Increasing water intake helps to flush out the toxins faster. It aids in digestion, waste removal and replenishes your cells. After just a short time, you will start to feel better, your help with improve and you will see the results.

Reduce water retention

Many women have a problem with water retention during certain times of their monthly cycle; however men who have a high salt intake can also suffer from water retention. This is the body’s way of hanging onto water when the body is going into a change or the body signals that it’s getting dehydrated. This can give you a feeling of being bloated and sluggish, often accompanied by body aches and headaches. You can combat excessive water retention naturally by increasing the amount of fresh water you drink everyday. This again flushed out toxins in your kidneys and intestines and refreshes your body so that it does not hold onto excess water

Increase metabolism

Water has been determined to increase the body’s ability to burn calories by a significant percentage. That means, when you drink water at meals, in between meals and in the evening, the body is continually burning calories as it has to work harder to circulate the water through your body. This increases the amount of weight you can lose this month as your metabolism will be higher than normal

How To Boost Your Metabolism! – How To Boost Your Metabolism And Lose Weight!

Regulate appetite

Oftentimes, when you think you are hungry, you are actually thirsty. The body sends out a similar signal so therefore someone who has weight issues may be confusing these signals and eating when they are really just thirsty. Whenever you start to feel that nagging hunger sensation, drink a glass of ice water and see how you feel in fifteen minutes. You may or may not need to eat, but you will train your body to recognize the difference.

By increasing the amount of water you drink, you can drastically improve your body’s ability to lose weight. Give your body a fighting chance to get those first ten pounds off by drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day.

The World Health Organization does not believe that we can contain the new strain of swine flu. This disease certainly has the potential to move markets across the globe. The public can mitigate this effect by proactively doing what is necessary to avoid contact with places in Mexico, Canada and Spain that have confirmed cases. Some restrictions to these locations should be placed until the cases reported diminish. The good news, based on recent studies this virus is not as harmful as the avian flu. For the most recent updates on the virus please visit: http://www.who.int/csr/disease/swineflu/en/index.html

Investors should keep an eye out on the number of cases confirmed, so far 105 confirmed cases is not a cause for concern. If this number keeps increasing there will be a direct correlation to the affected nations GDP as restrictions will most likely be placed on travel and import/export markets.
